Russian lieutenant general (b. April 24, 1961, Holodky, Vinnytsia Oblast, Ukrainian SSR). Ethnic Ukrainian. Graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School (1984), served in Spetsnaz units. First Deputy Head of the GRU since 2011. Awarded Hero of the Russian Federation for involvement in Russian military intervention in Syria. Co-founder and main initiator of PMC Redut alongside oligarch Gennady Timchenko, installing his relative Anatoly Karaziy as formal head. Known to have intelligence connections to paramilitary groups worldwide.
